Electrolysis is the only medically approved form of permanent hair removal supported by the British Medical Association (BMA), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the American Academy of Dermatology (AAA).
During an electrolysis hair removal treatment, a qualified professional called an electrologist slides a hair-thin metal probe into each hair follicle (without puncturing the skin).
An electric current is then passed down the probe to the follicle’s base, destroying it permanently.
This not only removes any existing hair but also permanently prevents regrowth.

No matter who you are, 99% of the time electrolysis permanent hair removal will be right for you.
Unlike some other hair removal methods, electrolysis can be used on all skin and hair types and can be performed on almost any part of the body.
Electrolysis is an extremely precise treatment and is perfect for small areas such as the upper lip or the eyebrows.
Thick and thin hairs can be targeted equally effectively, and during treatment I can even pick out individual light or dark hairs within existing growth to achieve a consistent natural look and colour.
Everyone is different, and I am happy to discuss all cases to ensure you get the treatment that is right for you.

It is important to consider your hair growth cycle when planning an Electrolysis treatment.
Hair grows in different stages: growing, resting and shedding.
Because all the hair you will want treating is very unlikely to be on the same stage at any given time, multiple sessions will be needed to get all unwanted hairs in the growth phase, where electrolysis is most effective.
I appreciate it can be frustrating to need to wait for multiple appointments to show results, but a successful series of electrolysis treatments provides permanent hair removal.
The number of treatments required will vary for each person and so are tailored to meet your specific needs.
The length of each session will depend on a number of circumstances, including how uncomfortable you find the treatment (your pain threshold).
You will need to have regular appointments over a long period of time - generally a minimum of one year (if not more) for most areas.
You will normally begin to see a difference three months after total clearance of the treated area, provided you adhere to the recommended treatment schedule and aftercare.
I will work with you during the whole process starting from the first consultation, and I aim to give you the confidence to continue with your treatment plan knowing that results will be forthcoming.

Electrolysis has been described as a stinging and/or pricking sensation. The level of discomfort varies depending on the sensitivity of the area being treated, and your own tolerance for pain.
We can discuss the probable sensitivity of different target areas during your consultation, and I will take your feedback during treatments to determine the most effective session durations for you.
There is usually some mild redness and swelling immediately after treatment, but this usually disappears after a few hours.
Some small red scabs may be seen the day after treatment; this is part of the normal healing process of the skin, and provided you take the recommended aftercare instructions and keep them clean, these scabs will fall off naturally and leave your skin smooth and hair free.
-
If you have been waxing, shaving, or tweezing to remove unwanted hairs in the treatment area, it is very likely that the hair follicle(s) will have become distorted.
This means the hair is not growing straight under the surface of the skin, and so only part of the hair follicle will initially be treated.
Once you decide to start treatment, I recommend that you stop removing the hair yourself and allow the electrolysis treatments to remove all the unwanted hair over time: this allows distorted hairs to start growing along their naturally straight course, and therefore means the probes can accurately target the hair follicle.
Electrolysis may not be effective if you continue to remove unwanted hair yourself in between treatments.
